The American people don’t like an imbalance. One party (no matter which one) with all the power messes things up too much. Yesterday we got to speak up and I’m proud of what we said. The Diebold machines did not steal our votes. I’m breathing a little more freely today.

That’s The Thing About Power
You just can’t hold on indefinitely to power in the United States. Things were looking pretty grim these past 6 years. So many very bad things have been ignored because of the fear factor. But you just can’t stop the salaciousness of a scandal such as the page scandal going on right now. No matter what you do.
Somehow gutting civil liberties, ignoring warnings of terroist threats, going to war because you wanted to and lying about it, cutting taxes and putting the country into unconscionable debt, and outting CIA agents and just wasn’t enough to make people wake up.
But it really hard to get behind a party that thinks its not that big of a deal to have powerful people soliciting illeagal acts from children. Maybe, just maybe this is the one that broke the camels back? The thing that might just save us, it’s really hard for our ‘beloved’ press to ignore a ‘sex scandal’. Way to go Foley and all the others that knew about it and just looked the other way. You may have just started the turn. It’s really hard to hold on to power indefinitely.
How The Diebold Stole Election Day….
I consider Princeton University a fairly reliable source. A study was just conducted there about the Diebold AccuVote-TS voting machine and they don’t have too many comforting things to report. The good news is it can be fixed, but, it needs to be fixed or something else might end up fixed.
Seriously Joe
I watched both Ned Lamont and Joe Lieberman last night on the News Hour with Jim Lehrer.
I just want to say, I don’t think Joe has gotten over that loss and the fact that he is not the vice president right now. His arguments are weak at best. And he’s not respecting the process he claims to uphold. The PEOPLE said no Joe. So just stop.
Basically the Democrats in Connecticut voted in the democratic primary. They voted for Ned Lamont and not Joe Lieberman. It was close, but the people chose Ned. Joe is now running as an ‘Independent’ democrat. So basically he thinks he knows more than the people. Which may or may not be true but we live in a two party system. It’s the reality and these days it just doesn’t feel like either choice is good. But because of the way we vote, electoral college and all, it’s impossible to break to realistically think that a third party can work. I know, I know, ‘what about Jesse Ventura?’ Well he’s the exception that proves the rule. Also that was a state election not a national one.
If you really don’t like the system you should work for voting reform. They do other things in other countries, ranking systems and such make it easy for more than two people to run. However, why would the people in power vote for a fundamental change to how they got there? It might be a threat to them so of course, they won’t change status quo. Some states are doing some work to change this but for now a two party system is our reality and the people told Joe to go and he’s disrespecting the people. Considering the job he wants is to represent the people, I think this action is pretty much in direct conflict. But then I guess the world is full of all kinds of hypocrisy. This is just more proof.
fREE content Sends Strong Message
We don’t have cable. We don’t have DirectTV. We get to give all that money to Apple. YAY. We went to the store tonight and an amazing show call ’30 Days’ was available there, for free. I personally would have paid for this show, but it was free!!!!
OK.
The show is Morgan Spurlock of Super Size Me Fame. The concept is that someone lives ‘a mile in another’s shoes’ for 30 days. This episode was about a Minuteman who went to live with a family of 7 illeagal immigrants in a one room apt. in LA.
Wow.
Watching this put the story together. This is inhumane. Keep them out. Send them home. Do the people saying that have any idea where they are sending these people? This is human suffering for no good reason. To me, that’s not worth it.
Reminder for the day (week, month, year…..)
I guess what I’m trying to say is that this is something that should be remembered.
From Cluetrain Manifesto
“
You are human
‘Scary isn’t it? Good. You ought to be scared. That’s a realistic reaction. You want comfort? Invent your own. Exhilaration and joy are also in order. But face the facts: the tracks end at the edge of the jungle.”

Now Why Didn’t I Think Of That
My friend Shannon sent out this picture. It’s a really good question!

Double Whammy
Yesterday was a double whammy day.
South Dakota banned abortion and Kirby Puckett died.
I’m from South Dakota. I can tell you I’ve never been proud of that fact. I had a hard time growing up there because I’m a bit of a freak. Freaks aren’t very popular in small towns in South Dakota, in case you were wondering. I got out of there as fast as I could and as soon as I could. It’s funny because recently friends and I have been talking about moving back. It’s cheap, it’s vast, it’s got some potential……. Well, yesterday was that hit you over the head reminder for me, I can’t go back there. Not only is it just as closed and scary as I remember, now it’s worse. I saw one of the legislators talking about this on television and I couldn’t believe the things he said. He was likening women that have abortions to Scott Pederson. You know, the Scott Pederson that was convicted for killing his pregnant wife. Yeah, I can see how that’s the same thing…..(sarcasm).
It was the New York Times quote of the day today:
“The sponsors and supporters of this bill believe that abortion is wrong because unborn children are the most vulnerable and most helpless persons in our society. I agree with them.
“
- GOV. MICHAEL ROUNDS, of South Dakota, after signing a bill that largely bans
abortion.
I wonder what kinds of plans the governor has in mind for caring for the unborn children once they are born. This is the thing that always get me about ‘respect for life’ is that life doesn’t get respected after birth. How do we feed, clothe, educate, and love these children? We don’t have respect for life in this country. The facts and figures about homelessness, hunger and disregard for the poor in a country that is drowning in abundance prove it.
He was one of those bright stars. He had so much talent. He gave a ton. He knew what he wanted, he always talked about knowing he wanted to play baseball since he was 5. His career was taken from him early as was his life. It’s really sad. It’s a loss for humanity.
I didn’t grow up with baseball. I learned it when I got older. My husband was patient and taught me over time how to really love the game. I never saw Kirby play, he was before my time in terms of my consciousness around baseball. I did get to witness his induction into the Hall of Fame. We were in the dome with my husband’s family when it happened and they showed it on the big screen. He was one of those people that has so much they just burn out way too early.
Yesterday was a rough one.
Are We Just A Bunch Of Racists
I’ve been wondering about this port deal that everyone has been talking about this week. One thing that seems to be happening is that there is a reaction going on. This reaction to me seems to be based on racism. A reaction to this deal for Dubai management to take over the ports of the United States. There are likely some legitimate concerns, but it seems like the bulk of the reaction is people in Congress trying to get some attention, set themselves apart from the current administration and stir up and actually encourage fear and racism.
To be fair, I don’t live near a port so this doesn’t affect me personally, but something just doesn’t seem right about this to me.
Oprah for President
I swear she could win. The thing is she should. She cares about people. She is powerful and rich and loved by millions. Talk about somebody that could motivate non-voters to get out there and vote.
It took something like the hurricane to show the world very viscerally, the rich powerful politicians DO NOT care about you. You know, the person that pays taxes. The republicans are concerned with ‘never having to say you’re sorry’. You people are freaks. It is not healthy to behave that way. It’s ok to admit your wrong. I think it’s called, oh I don’t know, Accountability. I remember George talking about that when he ran for president against Al Gore. He also said emphatically that he would not nation build. Iraq is a collassal abuse of my tax money and it’s nation building.
And the Democrats, they don’t really care either. Howard Dean cares about the people. I believe John Kerry does too. He’s a good man. But sadly just no match for the puppet freaks. Not organized enough. Can’t grab the attention of the voting American. And can’t inspire non-voters to vote.
But OPRAH.
She’s kind, inquisitive, inspring and smart. People love Oprah. We need a big shake up. I’d prefer a world with more compassion. We hear about it now, compassionate conservative. I’d like some proof please.
Think about it
&
say it with me…
‘Oprah for President.’
