It’s Sweeping the Nation…

And I can see why.

I’ve been wanting to try this game out for awhile. I went home for the weekend to spend time with my family and it turns out they had the game and have been having a wonderful time. We spent a good part of Saturday afternoon taking turns playing together and watching each other. It may seem silly to the outsider, but you really have to give it a try. We liked it so much that we picked up our own game for the Wii.

Here’s a picture of my ‘Rockstar’ sisters.

Celebrities at the Mall

On Wednesday night, I joined some friends to see Tim Gunn at the Herberger’s Roseville.

Tim Gunn at Roseville Herbergers

He was so positive and pleasant. I actually don’t have cable so I’ve barely seen Project Runway — which he is famous for — and now I want to watch it.

We need more people like that in the world. Even the “negative” things out of his mouth were positive. Yay for fabulousness in our world.

SXSW – Has it jumped the shark?

I’ve always wanted to go to SXSW. I think the first time I heard about it was when I was a DJ at my college radio station. It sounded to me like a freaking mecca of cool.

Sadly, I’ve never made it to the event. Due to things like work and not having an extra $1000 or so on hand for something like that, that stars have just never aligned.

Now I’ve been reading all kinds of things about the event this year that make me feel like it might be too late to attend this event with the expectations I’ve carried with me since college.

Here’s a few things I’ve been picking up through my various social media channels.

One of the sessions was not giving participants the content that they thought they could expect from the panel. Since the audience was filled with a bunch of social media savvy people, they all started talking to each other about this on Meebo. Unbeknownst to the panelist and traditional journalists in the room, an entire conversation about how this happened without the presenters.

There was also an article in Salon.

The kicker of it for me was the info graphic I found in the latest Fast Company.

And the twitters that people are sending, point to the end of an era.

I’m not saying it won’t be a great event next year, I’m just saying I don’t think the event I’ve always heard about happens anymore. No judgment, but sometimes , ‘their old stuff WAS so much better’. Things change.

Urban Legends ???

A friend sent the tiger piglet story around the other day. It sounds so right and so true. A tigress loses her cubs and to bring her out of depression, the zoo finds babies for her to nurture. As they cannot find any tiger babies, they see how piglets work out.

This story was too touching to not comment about on my blog. So I decided to conduct some further research about the story. Turns out there may be a bit of urban legend in the story. The pictures of the tigress and the piglets getting along are real. The story is just not true.

And as always the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

Did He Really Say (Sing) That?

Apparently, John McCain, when asked if there is a strategy to attack Iran, replied, “You know that old Beach Boys song, Bomb Iran?” the Republican presidential candidate said. Then, he sang. “Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran.”

I guess someone forgot to tell him the cameras are always on. He claims it was a joke, but is that really funny coming from a U.S. Senator and presidential candidate?

I have to say, i’m not very amused.

Pop Culture on Steroids

If you are looking for something to do this weekend and you luv the Simpson’s, you should go see this. It’s the Scottish play done (quickly) by the Simpson’s characters. It’s really good and my face hurt from laughing.

Oh an the encore is Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” by the 25 most annoying voices in the music industry! Bonus.
